Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania

We have been caring for Tasmania’s stray, lost and abandoned dogs since 1950 when we were known as the Tasmanian Canine Defence League.

Today, we have Dogs Homes in Hobart, Burnie and Devonport providing care to over 3,500 dogs in need each year. We reunite lost dogs with their owners, run foster care and education programs, provide veterinary treatment and re-home over 1,000 dogs annually. We are here to save dogs’ lives, not to end them and our goal is to re-home all healthy dogs. There is no time limit placed on dogs waiting to be adopted and there is no such thing as ‘death row’ here.

There are a wide variety of dogs and puppies available for adoption at the Dogs’ Homes. All dogs and puppies are microchipped, desexed, health checked, vaccinated and temperament tested prior to adoption. When you adopt a dog from the Dogs’ Home, you not only give this dog a second chance but you also gain a life-long friend. Visit our website for more details
